Advocacy for LaBahia and Delaware Projects

Advocacy: Two projects, important to the economic development of Santa Cruz, will be considered by City government in coming weeks. Key to the success of these projects will be expressions of support for the projects. The Chamber encourages you to attend these meetings or, at a minimum, take a few moments to communicate your support for these projects with the Council and Planning commission.

The Delaware Addition of mixed-use commercial and light-industrial condominiums next to the former Lipton property will be considered by City Council on July 22. The Chamber strongly encourages communication with City Council members in support of the project. The best support will be speaking at the Council meeting… the presentation will begin about 7:30 p.m. Also valuable are letters, phone calls and personal communications with council members.

The LaBahia Hotel project will be considered by the City Planning Commission August 7 at 7:00 p.m. This key project for beach area requires strong community support. The presence of members of the business community at this meeting will have great impact. Letters of support can also be sent to the Commission at cityplan@ci.santa-cruz.ca.us or faxed to (831) 420-5101.

For more information on these projects see the Chamber’s July newsletter, the project websites http://www.labahiahotel.com/; http://www.delaware-addition.com/. For more about how to best support these projects including public officials’ addresses and phone numbers see below.
